Position Summary
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in daily accounting operations, supporting month-end close, financial reporting, and general ledger management. This role is ideal for someone who is analytical, organized, and eager to grow within a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily accounting functions including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and cash receipts from retail locations.
- Support inventory accounting, including cost analysis, shrink reporting, and variance reviews.
- Process AP/AR transactions and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare financial schedules and assist with internal and external audits.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Collaborate with store operations, merchandising, and supply chain teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, GAAP standards, and internal controls.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2-4 years of accounting experience (retail or multi-location industry preferred).
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables required).
- Experience with accounting software (NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
